Marius van Niekerk is a qualified coach, with a Diploma in Personal and Business Coaching through the Irish Lifecoach Institute. This was completed whilst General Manager of Accutron, an IT/Electronics Design company in the West of Ireland, where he lived from 2001-2008, before returning to South Africa.

His industry roles have been in technical areas and in middle and executive management including Quality Assurance, Operations, Projects as well as General and HR Management. based on a very solid knowledge of motivational theory and coaching

Marius is a registered practitioner member of COMENSA, the leading coaching body in South Africa and a member of their leadership.

Marius also holds:

• A Masters Degree in Project Management (which he describes as an MBA with a focus on soft skills), where his thesis focused on the role of the Change Manager in a Small Irish Business, and
• The PMI’s PMP (Project Management Professional) accreditation.

He therefore understands the executive's pressures of leading, managing, studying, and maintaining life-balance. 


Marius joined Avestan Consulting as an Associate in June 2010 based on the synergy between his approach and that of Avestan Consulting, with the common goal of making businesses more successful using the best value. His vision for Avestan Coaching is "helping successful people to become more successful". Marius works out of our office in Cape Town, South Africa but is available to travel.
In addition Marius has completed a number of entrepreneur-related courses both in Ireland and in South Africa.

With varied interests, since starting to work for himself full-time in 2009, Marius has won the following entrepreneur awards:

• Winner, 2009 Western Cape SMME Business Launchpad competition, IT section (for the best business plan);
• Finalist, Cape Town Entrepreneurship Competition 2010, Idea Track.
